HPDT at 8th InASEA Congress, Sofia, 15-17.09.2016

Centre for Population Studies and HPDT were part of InASEA Congress (Sofia) through a paper based on social network analyses: “Godparenthood in rural Transylvania 1850-1918. Choices, practice and discourse “. Our colleagues proposed an exploratory research focused on the institution of godparenthood in the town of Ocna-Mures, attempting to reconstruct the individual ties between parents (fathers) and godparents (godfathers). They analysed the network from two major perspectives: denomination and social-professional status, in order to explore the possibilities offered by this method highly innovative for the historical demography.
